MARTHA L. ELLISON, MSW, PhD, has been a field director for 22 of her 24 years as a social work educator.  She was a field director at three institutions: Winthrop University, Missouri Western State University, and Union College (current institution).  She has published eleven articles in peer reviewed journals, such as The Clinical Supervisor, Journal of Social Work Education, and the Journal of Baccalaureate Social Work with most of those publications focused on field education. Her dissertation focused on identifying the effective and ineffective behavior of field instructors in their work with field students from the students’ perspective. She is a member of the Baccalaureate Program Directors Field Committee.
