NANCY TRANTHAM POE is an associate professor of social work and family studies at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nancy holds a BA in sociology from Roanoke College, an MSW with a concentration in child and family welfare from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a PhD in human development specializing in family studies with a graduate certificate in gerontology from Virginia Tech. She has served as field liaison in social work programs at James Madison University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Radford University (Virginia), and Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where she also served as Director of Field for the BSW program. She has written social work pedagogy including the field seminar and students experiencing client death during practicum.
