The chapter authors are expert researchers, field directors, liaisons, and teachers.   We owe them a great debt for their willingness to share their collective wisdom, honor our requests for re-writes, and wait long periods with little action.  The collection builds on the hard work of other researchers and field directors who have made contributions prior to the publication of this book.  Our gratitude is extended to Sonia Roschelli and Amanda Nelson for their scholarly contributions.   We thank the BPD Field Committee and CSWE Council on Field Education for their support and encouragement.   We are very grateful that Lyceum gave us the opportunity to spend time writing and reflecting about our passion, field education.  Finally, we give a huge thanks to our families, especially Sam, Scott, and Ira, who made sacrifices during the preparation of the book.
